GRAD CORNER

Welcome to "The Grad Corner" page. This page will be updated frequently with useful information for graduates.

Dear Graduate:
For many of you this will be your final year of high school. Not only is this the time for you to complete your high school studies, it is an opportunity to think about life after high school and research various options and destinations. Whether you are planning to pursue post-secondary education at University or College, or begin training towards a trade or apprenticeship or join the work force, there is much to think about and plan for. Although it may seem like an overwhelming task, there are many people who are willing to help you and provide the support and guidance you will need throughout the year. To assist you, there are a couple of things that you will need to do:

Listen: It is important to listen and read the announcements each day. Important information regarding workshops, grad photos, scholarships and bursaries are always announced daily. It is your responsibility to be aware of what you need to do and when you need to do it.

Look: Look into your eligibility to graduate. Will you have met all the requirements? Watch for posters advertising “Grad events”. Check out the Grad Bulletin Board in Student Services. There will always be sign up sheets posted in Student Services for workshops, liaison visits, community service opportunities, etc. In order to participate you must pre-register for these events. Check out the resources in Student Services. Here, you will start to find out what is available and where it is offered.

Learn: Find out as much as you can about all destinations. See what each has to offer. What destination meets your needs best? Volunteering and Coop are excellent ways to find out about the skills needed for many careers. Above all, learn about yourself this year. What interests/disinterests you? What are you good at/not so good at? Reflect on your skills and find out what programs or careers mirror these skills.

Be proactive and ask questions. After all, this is your future! Many people are here to help you including your parents, teachers, and members of the community. Don’t be afraid to ask for their help and support.
